This issue has been fixed in a later version of Unity.
Unfortunately backporting this fix to older LTS versions is problematic, as it relies on other changes which cannot be backported. Without those, backporting this fix breaks certain configurations, which is a no-go for LTS backports where stability is the highest priority.
However since this is a highly voted issue with a large impact, we might have to be more flexible. I'll close the issue for now, but if it continues to be reported and requested for 2022 LTS, we will look into it and decide if we need to take a different approach.
