"Visual Studio Code" is missing from the External Script Editor dropdown menu even though it is Installed and Updated
Unity: MacOS
macOS
Won't Fix
2023.1.X
2023.1.0a18 onwards
VS Code package is deprecated thus IDE does not detected automatically. But it is possible to select it manually or add the package by name manually in the package manager.
To reproduce:
Install the Visual Studio Code on your machine;
Open Unity Hub and create the New Project;
Open the Preferences window;
Select the "External Tools" options;
Expand the "External Script Editor" dropdown menu;
Expected result: You can find the "Visual Studio Code" option;
Actual result: There's no "Visual Studio Code" option;
Notes:
This issue reproduces only on macOS;
Other Script Editors such as the "Rider" or "Visual Studio" are detectable;
Reproducible in Unity 2023.1.0a18
Not reproducible in Unity 2023.1.0a17
Regression in Unity 2023.1.0a18
