Thank you for reporting this performance issue. We are planning to fix this by implementing CAMetalDisplayLink in the macOS Editor. Since this requires quite big changes in the Editor across different areas and teams, we need to plan this as a feature. Currently the plan is to address it in 2026 Q3. Therefore, we will close this case as a feature request. While we can't guarantee timelines, your feedback is important and helps us prioritize enhancements. If you have additional context or use cases, please share them.

Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “Repro“ project
2. Open the “Assets/Scenes/Scene.unity“ Scene
3. Enter play mode and observe it
4. Build and Run the project
5. Observe it
Expected result: No stutters are present in both editor and standalone application
Actual result: The sphere stutters in both editor and standalone application
