How to reproduce:
1. Create and open a new project with the HDRP template
2. Ensure that Vulkan is the only available Graphics API for Windows (Project Settings > Player > Other Settings)
3. Build and Run the project
4. Wait up to 10 seconds
5. Observe the Standalone Player
Expected result: Graphics are rendered, Player is responsive
Actual result: Player is in unresponsive state indefinitely
Reproducible on: Windows 10, Windows 11
Not reproducible on: No other environments tested
Reproducible in: 2023.1.0a4 (9f1a3c5b3af8), 6000.0.45f1, 6000.1.0b13, 6000.2.0a8
Not reproducible in: 2022.3.60f1, 2023.1.0a3
Affected GPUs: RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3080 (laptop), RTX 3080 Ti (laptop)
Not affected GPUs: RX 6800XT, RTX 3050Ti (laptop), RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RTX 4070 Super
Notes:
- Affected and not affected GPU list is not conclusive
- Issue does not reproduce with DX11 and DX12
- Issue does not reproduce when other secondary/fallback Graphics API’s are used
Issue does not reproduce with URP
- The player may also crash at some point, though, this was not reproduced by CQA
- Easily reproducible on internal laptop screen where the output is made by the iGPU
