Thank you for reporting a bug to Unity. We currently do not have HDR support in Scene View. This may be something we might look at in the future, but the team is unable to prioritize fixing this issue. There are a number of reasons we make this decision, including the impact and severity of the issue across our user and customer base and the amount of work on our side to enable this. Today we will be closing this case. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue, and please let us know if there is anything else that changes the impact or severity of this issue.
Unity 6000.2 has reached its end of life and will not receive further updates. If you need additional fixes, please upgrade to a newer Unity version.
Cancelling: the 6000.1 version has reached its end of life. If you need additional fixes, please upgrade to a newer Unity version.
Unity 2021.3 has reached its end of life and will not receive further updates. If you need additional fixes, please upgrade to a newer Unity version.
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “IN-99245 HDR in Scene view issue (3D URP).zip“ project (link in the internal comments)
2. Open the “SampleScene”
3. Go to Edit > Project Settings… > Player and make sure that the “Allow HDR Display Output” and “Use HDR Display Output” options are enabled, and that “Direct3D12” is selected as the Graphics API
4. Observe the “Cube” GameObject in the Game view
5. Observe the “Cube” GameObject in the Scene view from the same distance and angle as the “Main Camera”
Expected result (URP): The “Cube” GameObject might have a yellowish/orange tint and is very bright, and looks identical both in the Scene view and the Game view when looking at both views side-by-side (results will look different on different displays, see the “Notes” section for more details)
Actual result (URP): The “Cube” GameObject appears white (neutral in brightness, might appear slightly greyish depending on the display), and looks different in the Scene view and the Game view when looking at both views side-by-side
Reproducible with: 2021.3.51f1, 2022.3.62f1, 6000.0.49f1, 6000.1.2f1, 6000.2.0b1
Reproduced on: Windows 11 Pro (24H2)
Not reproduced on: No other environment tested
Tested on: Alienware m15 R3 with a 4k HDR OLED screen @ 60Hz (more detailed specs in the internal comments)
