ProBuilder is not using the native MeshFilter component which prevents the mesh from being displayed as a preview when making a prefab from a PB mesh. Moreover, the mesh is not stored in the prefab so there is nothing existing when the preview is computed to display this mesh.
The preview is available in the Inspector when selecting the prefab as a Preview workflow exists for that, however there is no such workflow for prefab thumbnails.
