Updating from the banner present no feedback

+{*}Clicking update button from the update banner presents no feedback to user. 

Initial setup
Install a 2.7.0-pre.2, it prompts to upgrade to new version.

Reproduction steps
Click the update button from a older version than the latest

Expected behaviour
The button grey out, ideally show a in progress spinner on the banner. Notifying the user the update is in progress. Similar to package manager.

Actual behavior
The interface presents no response until download finishes and package import happens.
