Thank you for reporting a bug to Unity. We have reviewed the issue carefully, and in this case, the team is unable to prioritize fixing this bug. There are a number of reasons we make this decision, including the impact and severity of the issue across our user and customer base, and the possibility that future plans may solve the problem in a different way, or that a workaround for the bug may be available. Today we will be closing this case. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue, and please let us know if there is anything else that changes the impact or severity of this issue.
How to reproduce:
1. Create a new Unity project
2. Open Package Manager (Window → Package Management → Package Manager)
3. Install the “Behavior” package
4. In the Assets press Create → Behavior → Behavior Graph
5. Double click on it to open
6. Add a custom action to the graph (Right click the grid → Create New → Action)
7. Give it a name
8. Attach the node you just created to “On Start” node
9. In the same Asset folder where your Behavior Graph resides, a script file will appear, open it
10. Rename the class in the script
11. Before going back to Unity locate the script file through File Explorer and rename it to the same name as well
12. Go back to Unity Editor and let it compile
Actual result: The graph is broken, an error “The asset 'Behavior Graph' contains missing types. Window will close to avoid corruption.” appears, and there is no interface provided to fix the reference.
Expected result: The node in the Behavior Graph updates its reference to the renamed class or allows the user to manually re-assign the missing reference.
Reproducible with: 1.0.13 (6000.0.16f1, 6000.6.0a7), 1.0.16 (6000.0.16f1, 6000.6.0a7)
Could not test with: 1.0.12 (The locking mechanism was added in 1.0.13)
Reproducible on: Windows 11
Not reproducible on: No other environments tested
