"NullReferenceException" is thrown when disabling and re-enabling Unity Version Control in Project Settings

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a new URP project
2. Open Version Control window
3. Create workspace
4. Once created, go to Project Settings > Unity Version Control Settings
5. Click the Disable button
6. Click the Enable button
7. Observe the Console

Actual results: "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is thrown

Expected results: No errors are thrown

Reproducible with versions: 2.12.4 (6000.3.0a1, 6000.3.19f1, 6000.5.2f1, 6000.6.0b2, 6000.7.0a1) 

Not reproducible with versions: 2.12.4 (6000.0.78f1, 6000.2.0b2)

Tested on (OS): Ubuntu 24.04

Notes:

• Does not reproduce on macOS 26.5
• On earlier versions, the reproduction can be inconsistent and FAV might not be correct. Sometimes it takes multiple times to enable/disable to throw error
