Steps to reproduce:
- Create a new project inside a configured Perforce workspace
- Configure Perforce under Edit > Project Settings > Version Control
- Create a Material in the Project window
- Add and submit the Material and its .meta file to Perforce
- Go to Edit > Project Settings > Editor > Enter Play Mode Settings and select Do not reload Domain or Scene
- Select the submitted Material and check it out
- Without changing the selection, enter and exit Play Mode
- Observe the Material in the Inspector
Actual result: The Inspector becomes read-only after exiting Play Mode, even though the Material is checked out
Expected result: The Inspector remains editable after exiting Play Mode because the Material is checked out
Reproducible with: 6000.0.0f1, 6000.0.84f1, 6000.3.24f1, 6000.6.2f1, 6000.7.0b1, 7000.0a1
Reproducible on: Windows 11
Not reproducible on: No other environments tested
Note: Reselecting the affected asset fixes the issue
