When using an emission texture, the ambiant occlusion shows a hard edge where the texture pixels are fully black.

Steps to reproduce:

Decompress and import the attached "AO Emissive.zip" in a HDRP project.
Open the "AO Emissive.unity" scene.
Look at the dark side of the cube (opposite of sunlight).

Smooth transition of the AO with the emission.

I didn't test for regression, it might be here since the beginning and never noticed ?
Reducing the emission intensity to a very small value (but not 0) will look like the AO is very dim where the emission texture pixels are not fully black:
