Crash on "block_merge_next" when entering PlayMode in a scene from the "POLYGON War Map - WWI - Low Poly 3D Art by Synty" package

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached “Polygon-PerfTest” project
2. Open the “Demo” scene
3. Observe the crash

Reproducible with versions: 6000.0.3f1
Couldn’t test with versions: 2021.3.38f1, 2022.3.30f1 (due to compiler errors)

Reproducible on: macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 (Intel), Windows 10, MacOS Darwin 23.4.0 (M1) (By the reporter)
Not reproducible on: no other environment tested
