When an object picker is empty, the label reads: None (Type-of-object, eg Texture 2D / Material)
Because type of object is stated in the label, there is no need for the type icon to be shown when obj picker is empty,
Showing an icon when obj picker is empty creates confusion as reported by users, perceived as there is a texture there named missing
"Empty" text styling
A while back design team proposed a text-style for "empty menu / none available / place holder" texts. We recommend this style used for None / Missing when obj picker is empty.
This text style is intended for n/a or empty controls. It uses 70% alpha. (as opposed to 40% in disabled style).
